    Smile Got my first hammock

Hey guys, joined this group a week or so ago, read all the threads and finally decided to buy my self a Trek Lite double hammock, got it in today. It is great, it packs up so much smaller and lighter than I ever expected. Now I just have to decide what to use as a tarp and how to do the whole bugnet thing, Plan on spending a couple nights in it next weekend. So glad I found this forum, these things are so cool, but now I feel bad for my tent, its gonna get lonely lol. Later

    Welcome aboard!....

RE: tarps - just to get you out there, I have used one of the Wally World camo 8x10's at around $7.00... Heavy but effective. I since have made (and you can too if you or a friend sews) most of my own out of ripstop (and assorted other materials) and in many styles. It is a personal thing I believe. All do about the same thing so have fun finding YOUR preference. (that is the fun part of this!) IMO
This will make you crazy though... My wife asked me yesterday "will you ever stop sewing!"
Again, Good luck and have fun hangin around.
Packing for the mountains for a family hang today.

PS. I shoud have the dog's hammock finished by lunch time.

    Welcome Dameon!

Beware: the DIYers here will feed you little bits and pieces until you're hooked. Take a look at the BlackCat tarp if you're feeling fiesty and have some sewing skills. It's a great tarp! If you want to just buy one, it's called the MacCat and they are very reasonably priced.

    Happy Hanging!

Dameon, welcome aboard, we're glad to have you with us, always room for one more. I'm glad you are comfortable and happy with your new hammock. And don't sweat the tent. Remember, a tent is just a tent but a hammock is shelter with style.
