Just never have seen that term used before ... should have known it was more a marketing thing. Oh well. Good to see he finally put out the expedition with a side zip!

Is it really only 48" wide?

So besides the pad pocket, what is the difference between this new hammock and their $269.00 Deep Jungle Hammock? Besides $130.00?
The Deep Jungle is a double plied and oversized Hyperlite (30D hi-tenacity ripstop) where if I'm reading this right on REI, the new Exped SZ is original weight single ply taffita. This also leads to increased tarp size and suspected material differences differences.
Has anyone seen official specs from Tom on this new Exped, or is he going large chain on us for special marketing of new mod offerings?
Has anyone noted whether the bottom entry is still included and if so, what side would the zipper be on in in reference?

I'm curious about how this turns out. I have REI dividend money to spend and the SZ Exped has free shipping for REI members to boot.
I just sold my Clark tonight with the intention of going DIY to save money, but I could get into this thing for next to nothing.
No info on the Hennessy site yet. At least none that i could find.
I'm guessing he has a stock of bottom-entry he'd like to sell off before offering the side-zip, thus nothing showing on the official site. That doesn't explain the REI offering though...
Who knows?

If anyone buys, please post whether bottom opening is also there.
Personally the more openings, the less claustrophobia!
First peek. Hopefully I can set it up this weekend and give it a try!
EDIT: Added another pic... seems to be a nice sturdy zipper.

Yep, definitely lighter and just slightly more compact. It'll loose a bit more weight when I replace the stock suspension.
I just broke my hammock stand while trying to work out the best way to string up my underquilt. A hinge on one of the lateral stability "wings" broke and the whole thing flopped onto it's side.
Speaking of underquilts, I need to go in search of wisdom from Hennessy owners, because I was having a heck of a time trying to get my Winter Ptarmagin situated under me properly. Seems like I need a couple of loops or something on the edge of the UQ for additional attachment points.

Maybe sew on a couple grosgrain loops to the sides of the Ptarmigan and then run some shock cord off that out to clip off with a mini s-biner to the tie-out points on the hammock would work? Just have to make sure there isn't too much tension to avoid pulling the quilt away from the hammock causing gaps but I'd think it might work. Just a thought. I'm sure some of the other Hennessey users might have other/better ideas.
