    Connecting hammock ridgeline

Do most hangers keep their hammock ridgeline always attached to their set-up?
Should the ends attach to my two sets of aluminum rings?
What knots/loops? Whoopie (permanent through rings?) at one end, bowline at the other?
    Thanks for your help.

    Yes ... I do.
Mine go right where my suspension hooks to my hammock whipping .. the ends.
    Larkhead, simple wrap with half-hitches...
Try a whoopie ridgeline from opie ........ easy and done.

To answer your question might be a little tough since you didn't mention what type of hammock you have? or what type of suspension you are using? But I will try to answer as best as I can, some hammocks have a integrated ridgeline where it is put through the whipping and tied to the cord (or whatever is being used). The ridgeline, as I have found, its only purpose is to set the lay of the hammock, so no matter how it is hung, as long as its off the ground you will have the same sag every time, you can also hang small stuff from it for when you are in the hammock.
Yes you can tie it to the rings.
Alot of knots will work, but it also depends on which line you are using, such as amsteel, which knots do not hold very well with, but for a ridgeline I suppose it could work as the ridgeline is not supporting your weight. The best thing I can recommend is to watch the new series of vids that Shug has put out, as I am a newbie and have watched all of his vids, they will give you alot, I mean ALOT of very valuable information, my last suggestion is to use the search feature and you will find thousands of posts all on the very same questions you asked. Hope this helps a little for you, but I am sure that more experienced hangers than I will chime in.
