    Converting a bed quilt

A friend is giving me their full size down quilt. Im thinking of converting it into a 2/3 or 3/4 underquilt. Any ideas on the best way to do this? thanx, Bill

Inside an old tent so the down don't blow away. Part of it depends on how the quilt is baffled. Sewn through squares won't release that much down if you cut them, but you can't shift the down out of the way very effectively. Mark out the pattern you are going to use on the quilt. Then get as much down out of the way as you can before you cut it. Cut one side and sew it up. Then shift the down the other way and cut the other side and stitch. It is a fairly easy project if you have a proven pattern to use.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
