    It has been a while

Was really into the hammock thing for a while, but I backpack with my wife. She did not approve so I have gone to ground.. One thing I can say is that it isn't lonely.. LOL

Anyway looking forward to a possible solo trip and I do not have a proper rig if you will. Just an old single layer knock off and some bags that could be used for top quilts.

So what is your go to, quick down and dirty, rig to purchase..

Need straps, whoopies (if I remember how to use them) and an under quilt preferable full length as I don't carry a pad.

^ Agreed. Just about the only way to do any better on price without DIY would be a Jarbidge synthetic quilt from Arrowhead Equipment.

One plus for that option is that he can probably get it to you a little quicker than Hammock Gear.

For hammock suspension, there are lots of options, including the two vendors already mentioned. Another good choice would be any of the "complete suspension" choices from Dutchware. It would be tough to beat the Cinch Buckle complete suspension for simplicity, cost, and versatility.

If you'd rather use whoopies, then check out the whoopie hook complete suspension options from Dutchware and decide what you want to use for toggles to complete a Marlinspike Hitch.

Or connect the hammock (if it has continuous loops at the ends) directly to the straps with a Becket hitch.

Definitely, the econ HG quilts are a great option. Go for the premium quilts if space in your pack is a high priority.

I like these straps: https://dutchwaregear.com/product/uh...traps-huggers/. And I'd personally skip the whoopies and do a becket hitch. If you prefer something adjustable the cinch bugs are light and simple. I use them often.

    Do you have a tarp?
