Zing it Prusik knots

So I'm trying to make myself a tarp ridgeline and I'm running into an issue. I'm using 1.75mm zing it. My prusiks aren't holding. They hold to a point then start slipping. Can the zing it be prusik'd onto the same type of line? Or should I be using a larger line for the ridgeline and smaller diameter for the prusiks? I'm using 3 turns. Would 4 help?

Zing-It/Lash-It and other aramid fiber cords are really slick. prussiks work best with a smaller line wrapping a larger one. It doesn't work as well using a line knotted onto itself with the prussik. However, you can just use more wraps to get more friction. 4 may work, maybe you'll find you need 6, just keep wrapping to increase the friction until you feel it's right.

Zing-It/Lash-It (and Amsteel-Blue; i.e. Dyneema/Spectra) is made of polyethylene not aramid, but it certainly is slippery.

How many wraps are you using? 3 wraps slips around 30 pounds when using 1.75 on 1.75. 3 wraps using 1.75 on 2.2 slips around 40 pounds.

4 wraps using 1.75 on 2.2 gets you over 50 pounds.

Try the blakes hitch if you dont want slippage.

The Klemheist may work better if you are only anticipating pulling from one direction. I use that on my figure 9 carabiner for my ridgeline and it works much better than a prusik.

Well, I got it working now. I used 4 wraps, but I think the main problem was that my prusiks were kinda sloppy. Once you make them nice, neat and tight, they hold find. Now I just need my new OES MC Dlx and I'll have a fine setup.

I wasn't sure if you can create the zing it prussik loop with a double fishermans knot or does it have to be spliced. I am imagining it is tough to splice that thin a line.

It is a little tough to do, a good pair of glasses helps, but I've done it. It can be done, after one or two, it gets easier. I made 12 of these a couple weeks ago.
