    Unhappy Pine Sap

Any recommendations for getting pine sap out or off of tarps & treestraps. The stuff is aggrevating enough to get off of the car let alone gear!!

Warn the wife before you toss it in the freezer though.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I know alcohol based hand sanitizer takes tree sap off your hands pretty well. It might do the same with straps... give it a try and report back!

Try some turpentine...derived from pine sap, actually, so it should work.

Mineral spirits will do it. So will alcohol based wet wipes. So will Tecnu, which is also good for poison oak/ivy oils - the active ingredient in it is mineral spirits.

Some people use peanut butter or mayo, but that just sounds like rubbing bear bait on gear.

In my trade, I use denatured to remove sap from wood.
Turpentine is good, mineral turps/white spirit will weaken some plastics-probably best avoided.
