Most people use polypro. Nylon webbing seems too stretch too much.

Yeah, poly-pro for me as well. Polyester would be best but I could get black Poly-pro easier and cheaper and it works about as well. I've not had any break or stretch noticeably.
Speer has 30' polyester on sale for like $7... 15 minutes on a sewing machine, and you're all set...
I cant sew though!
I just tie an overhand knot in the end to make a loop. It wastes a couple inches but it's a no-sew way to go and hasn't failed me.
So is polyester the stronger, better ,less stretch fabric over polypropylene and nylon?
Polyester is the best choice. On the stretch-o-meter
Polyester: -------------------------
Poly-pro: -----------------------------
Nylon: -----------------------------------------------------------

My choice for polyester was mainly ease to obtain it (I included it in a materials order from one of my business suppliers) and the cost savings to outfit 4 hammocks at one time. You can get polyester straps at home centers but they will usually be brighter colors, if that is a factor.
if you have access to a dremel tool then getting ratchet straps and simply cutting off the hook is the way to go. then you have a sewn on loop all ready to go on polyester webbing. that's what i did.
