    Tarp Tree Huggers??

My back yard trees are showing signs of damage from my tarp ridge line tie outs. So I am thinking of using a narrower webbing for a tarp ridge line tree hugger. Any one else do this?

I have been thinking about this as well. A short length of webbing attached to tarp RL or tarp end ties is what I'm thinking of doing. A tarp shouldn't stress tree bark nearly as much as a hammock holding one's weight does, but still a possibility of doing damage. 2 short tree-huggers added to a normal tarp line rig should not add much weight.

I would say for setting up and using in your backyard, yeah use tree huggers for tarp. But I wouldn't worry with packing them on trips as you won't be repeatedly hanging your tarp from the same trees on the trail.

Of course, the other option is to make a PHS (Portable Hammock Stand).

I've been planning on using half inch grossgrain as huggers for my tarp with swimsuit/bra hooks instead of dutch clips. It's only an idea at this point and it will be some time before this project makes it to the top of my list. When it does happen, I'll post more info on how it went and how well it works.
