    Wilderness First Aid Hang Series

In another thread there was discussion of First Aid being used out in the back woods. In that discussion there was some minor consensus that a Wilderness First Aid class was beneficial to people who regularly spend time where an ambulance isn't five minutes away.

If there is sufficient interest, I would be willing to organize a series of hangs where Wilderness First Responder would be taught. I would expect to use volunteer instructors, so costs would only be for any materials (books, first aid supplies) that would be used in the class.

I could see doing the class four times, in Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas, Oregon, to cover a wide area. Of course if a group of people from another area wanted to have one closer to them, the locations are negotiable.

So let me know if you would be interested in attending something like this and I'll start putting together some prices and dates and locations. Also if you are (or can be easily) a trainer for a course like this and would like to volunteer your time, let me know that as well.

I might be interested but those locations are too far from me to make four trips.

The Wilderness First Aid is also offered regularly in the Central New York area by the Southern Tier Chapter of the Red Cross, I keep signing up for it, but there are never enough people so they cancel the class.

I am definitely interested in this (as a student). I may be able to round up a few more students if the schedule works out.

I'd drive to the Carolinas for this...

would there any kind of a certification process like an evaluatio nof knowledge after instruction or is this just something that we're doing for general knowledge?

I'd be very interested and depending on dates would be glad to help organize the Texas area venue ... whatever that means.

    Northern WI?

If a site to hold classes becomes available & if enough people are interested would you consider holding a class up here? Here is the Chequamegon Bay/Apostle Islands National Lakeshore area. Between Labor Day and the 1st weekend of October the number of tourist drops. Depending on numbers the chalet at Mt. Ashwabay(Mt.Ashwabay Outdoor Recreational Area), Pavilion in the town of Bayfield might be available for no to minimal costs. Setting up camps at the hill might be an option.

For those making the long haul up to here for the class adding a backpacking/camping vacation could be an option. North Country Trail is within an hours drive. Miles of hiking available from the ski hill.
