    Hello from SE TX!

Hello from southeast TX. I live in The Woodlands, about 40 miles north of downtown Houston, with my wife and three daughters (5, 8, & 11). My wife has been a hammock camper for a year or so, but I always preferred (or thought I preferred) tent camping. I like the feeling of being enclosed in a tent, so I didn't have much interest in trying a hammock. I hurt my back many years ago and when I woke up on our most recent camping trip it took me a couple days to recover from being on the ground. I tried my wife's hammock one night at home, and I was converted! I woke up in the morning and my back felt great!

My first hammock and underquilt arrived yesterday, and I plan on testing it out tonight. It's supposed to dip to about 41 degrees tonight with a slight breeze, which is about the coldest temperature we like to camp in. It will be a good test for my 40-deg underquilt and topquilt. Here's looking forward to lots of comfy nights hiking and camping with the family...

Isn't there some saying about how a wise man listens to his wife?

Welcome to the forums. Hope your cool hang works out well for you.
    Cheers.

Thanks! The cool hang went well. It dropped to the mid 30s, so it was more of a cold hang. The quilts keep me nice and warm!
