    Big Enough?

I'm 6'8" tall and I am thinking about getting a Blackbird. Is it going to be long enough for me? I seem to fit "fine" in my ENO Doublenest. Thanks!

    Hi Wou42,

I'm surprised that no one else has responded to this thread yet. The BB is an extremely popular model here, for good reason.

I'm only 5'8", and +/- 200#, but my BB SWALLOWS me. I have enough room for both me and my 10 year old daughter to lie in it comfortably, with room to spare. I never thought about head-to-foot room in it, but thinking back, when my feet were in the footbox I still had a *lot* of fabric past my head leading up to the suspension. I have no idea if I would feel the same if I were a foot taller than I am.

Brandon would be the best person to advise you on this since he will have actual measurements, but I'm thinking you'd fit. You just wouldn't have all of the extra room that we more vertically-challenged people have. It's worth sending Brandon an email to get his input.

Thanks for the input. I emailed Brandon and he told me the WBBB is made for 6'6" max, but that I might fit. I appreciated the honesty instead of "buy it, it will work". He also told me I could buy it, and if it wasn't long enough I could return it. He was quick to respond and honest. As mentioned in other posts, he is a great guy to deal with. I will buy one in the near future and let all the other monsters out there know if I fit. Thanks again. Love this place.

Yep, 5'11 but 290 pounds all shoulders. i look like the father from the incredibles. the blackbird is by far way bigger than i'll ever need it to be.

I thing WBG list the BB dimensions as 120" x 65".
Ed Speer , in his book 'Hammock Camping' , gives the thumb rule of the hammock needing to be ' at least two feet longer than the user's height' for proper sleep comfort.

Sounds like it ought to work for ya.

Just depends - if you are 6'8" and built like Skywalker , http://www.skywalkerat.com/ , who is 6' 11" , then I think you'll be ok

Or if you're someone with a 44" belt. Well - maybe not.

I'm 6'6". 247 lbs..... I fit very nicely in my WBBB. I actually fit better in it than the HH Explorer Deluxe that I still have as well...

Well, I ordered it. I will let you know if 6'8" works in the BB or not. Now the wait begins...

Received my WBBB today and it is an amazing piece of gear. I don't think I can add too much more to what everyone else has mentioned or praised, but I love it.

I am a legit 6'8" 250 lb guy, and I fit fine inside the WBBB. I wouldn't say that I am swimming in it, but I fit great and I am looking forward to field testing it (which is a great excuse to get out and hike!). I hope this helps for anyone else that is taller than most.
