    Crater Lake...Oh Yeah!

One of my favorites places! The first time I saw it from the rim, the blue from the water knocked the breath out of me. A truly amazing sight!

Later we took the boat ride and I got to swim , it was one of the best swims I ever had. The water was crystal clear and COLD. It was July and sunny. The water temp was 48 degrees...brr, but refreshing.

I can make a trip like this if I had enough time to plan and it was long enough. I mean at least a four day-er.

I would make the effort to be there next year. Pick a time early enough so I (we) can book holidays to get there. Edmonton to that area is as doable as going to the East Coast Hangs

Hey, I would totally be up for this.

As I am just getting started, I'd prefer not to be there when there is 30-feet of snow on the ground... or... even 3 feet of snow on the ground... ok, hell, i'll be honest... I don't even like 3 inches of snow on the ground!!

Redwood trees do not like snow... which is why I live in the middle of them

Being it is a couple hours away, I would be in, however, the crowds can be nasty in summer... mind ya that this is coming from a bushwacking, Oregonian, winter (synonymous with rain) backpacker who avoids the crowds and TV like they were a plague.

I'll go. I live in Ashland; therfore, I can be flexible. I'd actually prefer to go when there is snow. Let's ski into the campsite!

well it looks like there's no lack of interest. my proposal would be a hike around the lake. any other ideas? maybe stretch it into 4 day - week long event if everyone is going to be willing to make the trip. i suppose we should also get in touch with the park service when we develop some concrete dates. it's looking like the majority would opt for spring or fall... so let's pick a few sets of dates and i'll post a new thread with a poll and those sets of dates and will go with a consensus. is this agreeable to everyone?

I'm in. Considering that I live on Crater Lake Ave, I'll pull out of the driveway and take a right

If I make my way out west by April of next year (not my plan, but a "dream date" if you will) I'd totally be up for it. I've ALWAYS wanted to visit that park.
