No. I'd love to see a pic of it. I've been looking at some of the battery operated fans that I could hang from a hammock for some of these summer hikes in FL. I'm not too worried about the weight, as I'm keeping the mileages below 50 miles for the most part. My biggest problem right now is the Warbonnet (which I adore) has no ridge line and no place to hang a fan from. But, I'm not above putting a non-structural one in if it means having a few extra degrees of coolness.

cannibal... here's the lightest fan i've picked up (at wal-mart) weighing 3.5ozs.

but i have no doubt that some of our electronic types could reduce that weight in half for backpacking in summer.
if you click on my gallery, you'll see another fan i got at wal-mart & the fan that brian (T-back) used.
a breeze makes a huge difference so i guess when you find your only choice for hammocking is sometimes in hotter times than you'd like, it may be worth it's weight in gold<g>.
if someone wanted to get technical about it, some questions to consider might be...
    1) most efficient fan blade type
    2) best motor size & battery type to get the best air flow for the weight.
    3) light weight, adjustable attachment methods (small wire?).

of course if weight isn't a concern (shorter hikes & car camping) & a some what heavier fan was used, a person would just need that they have a ridge line that can handle the extra weight.

A really simple and light way to go about making a fan easily would be to take one of those small usb fans and make yourself a 9volt usb battery for it.

I had that same thought while reading about one of Risk's wood burning forge set-ups. Those fans can't weight more than an ounce plus the 9V.

Slowhike, thanks for posting the link. I'll go check it out. Those fans can be bought at Radio Shack for about $10.

The thing about the directions I liked to is that they show using both a male and female usb plug. If you are willing to cut the plug off of whatever fan you have, you could just solder the diode and resistor inline to the battery, and simply unplug the battery for 'off'. Either that or use a very small switch. That could save some weight.

What I like about the USB fans is that they are made from 'gooseneck' tubing, so they are infinitely adjustable, wrappable, etc.

However, that looks like the same cheapy fan that I've seen before. If so, it runs on 2 AA batteries and will last about a week with semi-constant use (Hurrincane Frances , Hurricane Jeanne , Hurricane Wilma ). Might be good for short trips, but I wouldn't carry it for anything over a week.

I've seen promo stuff like that on the ends or corners of aisles throughout the hardware section. There not regular stock items so they may already be sold out.
