My Explorer's rain fly doesn't seem to be big enough. There is a essentially a gap on my right foot area and left head coverage (or vice versa).
Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried attaching the sides of the tarp to the ridgline?
Any way you slice it with the stock Hennessy tarp it is small compared to others talked about
here. If you were to see a number of different tarps together like at a group get together you
would realize just how small it really is. The stock tarp can have it's place occasionally, just hope the weather is nice.

"Every day above ground is a good day"
Flip it over! You've probably got the Asym on the tarp and hammock opposite. There is a right side up on those things; makes your head hurt!
you probably have it backwards like the others have said. when you have it right, you'll know it. never have i seen anything barely cover something! i slept in a light drizzle, in the woods, with the stock explorer tarp and it kept me dry. the slightest bit of wind would have probably blown rain into my hammock, though. however, i did have the hammock staked out pretty wide, not exactly rain mode. but, the tarp is also pretty short as far as end to end coverage.
