    Question about size

I want to get a Hennessy and have a question about sizing.

I was all set to get a Hyperlight, but reading the "Hennessy Hammock weights" thread is making me rethink that. Apparently the Hyperlight might not actually be 5 oz. lighter than the Backpacker UL. And now I'm wondering if a Backpacker UL is long enough for me.

I'm 6' tall which puts me right on the 'bubble' for upsizing to an Explorer Ultralight for the extra length. I'm 185 lbs, so my weight doesn't really enter into the equation.

Does a 6 footer like myself see a significant increase in comfort with the longer hammock? And if so, do you think it would be enough to offset the added weight (approximately 10 oz.) of the larger hammock?

Ann from Hennessy replied to an e-mail and said I could try either model and exchange if I wanted. That's very generous, but I would rather make an informed purchase right off the bat and save them the hassle of an exchange and then having a slightly used hammock to unload.

    Thanks.

I'm 6' 1" and upgraded to an Explorer Ultralight from a Desert Rat (Expedition size) because I felt cramped in the Rat. The Explorer is gloriously spacious by comparison.

It's worth it to me to carry the 10 oz. in exchange for the increase in comfort.

Definetely go with the Explorer Ultralight. At your height, the extra comfort will offset the weight. I'm only 5'7 and if I could do it again, I'd have gotten a Explorer Ultralight instead of the Hyperlight due to the extra length. A longer hammock is a more comfortable hammock for most. Welcome and happy hangin.

I went from a Hennessy UltraLight Backpacker Asym, ULBA, to a DIY Safari (and now the Bridge Hammock ). I'm only 5' 11" (and shrinking ).

My experience is that longer is definitely more comfortable. A world of difference between the ULBA and the Safari. Even at 5' 11" the ULBA felt somewhat cramped for me and the Safari is like staying in the penthouse suite by comparison.

Haven't tried the Explorer, but the Safari is even bigger yet. If I had to pick a regular hammock to use it would be the Safari.
