I recently got a sewing machine and made all kinds of mods but hadn't yet had a chance to try them out in the woods yet. My Livingroom can only simulate so much ........ and I live at the beach so no trees there either.

I made a summer weight sleeping bag into an under quilt. I made line pouches on my tarp and then I made a snake skin for my tarp. My hammock, a blackbird didn't require any mods ...... I also have a full bugnet that I made the "megamouth" mod to. I opened up one end and put in about 18" of velcro so I can slide it on and off with my uq and bag inside. At my place in the dacks I got lots of spiders so I usually leave it on all the time but when I go places it isn't as bad and it's nice to slide that bug net out of the way and just lounge. the tarp snake skins also work well for lounging, but this is still all theory but based on former field evals.

I think I gotta go and test my hammock out, I got a killer cold that's kicking my butt bad ........

guys, think of places you want to kayak in to .......
I'm already doing the 90 miler route so something different than that please.

I'd think that some of the outfitters in the area would like to see our gear?
and maybe that would help start opening up new off the beaten path camping sites?
of course this would be hammock style spots as we don't require level ground ....
150' from water or trail is all it takes to hang nicely .....
this opens up all kinds of hammock camping spots!

It's a Perception Eclipse 17 - I wish I had more experience with it...just bought it last year, and hope to get more time, and some lessons, this year.

This is what I got http://www.venturekayaks.com/#/kayaks/all/Easky%2015
I havent done much kayaking in it yet. I bought it in Sept 2008 and last year I was too busy or it rained.
I did put alot of gear in it for solo camping at Good Luck lake. Portaging is going to be a challenge, the only way I could pack anything in the cargo hatches is with stuff sacks.

If this comes together, there are plenty of places to rent one up there...even though I have a kayak, I'd be up for sharing a canoe with someone as well.
