    Adirondack Summer 2010 Hang

I'd like to get together an Adirondack Summer 2010 Hang. I'll be based out of Tupper Lake for the whole summer (I hope) and there's a few good sites on the lake if we choose the site there, but anywhere else would be ok, as long as it was not in the middle of the popular areas. Car camp, hike, canoe/kayak or boating into the site is fine with me. Pack canoe with portages would be nice ...... I'm open to ideas and different adventures.

I'd be in for this - don't use a hammock now, but am interested in trying it. Otherwise I'll use my tarptent...

I have a kayak too, so your idea of paddling in to some place to camp sounds good.

    I'm a mod there - that's where I first saw it.

Make sure you let DuctTape know - he's a big hammock guy from Rochester. Little Rickie, too.

In the Tupper Lake area I've got a few ideas brewing ......

There's several places to launch from or base out of,
the state boat launching site, and bluejay campsites, ......

I know of a couple of nice state sites on the lake to check out.
then I got this out of the way place,
paddle, portage, paddle and be back in beaver city,
and it's got a very remote feeling about it.
I can also add a bit of a hike to it to a nearby lake.

then there's another favorite of mine,
Low's Lower Dam on the Bog River and paddling up stream
    to the upper dam ......
and there's supposed to be a pretty nice hike up there too,
though I hadn't done that yet.

I have a Bell Bucktail solo canoe and a Hurricane Tampico XL kayak. Maybe I will post some photos later.

WW is correct about the availability of boat rentals. Many outfitters to choose from.

I am in the market for a nice tandem canoe, so if I get one in time I could carry an extra body.

In solo boats, I have an Old Town Penobscot 16 canoe, a 14 foot Hornbeck canoe, and Old Town Loon 138...in tandem canoes, I have a Wenonah 18, and an Old Town Penboscot 17...

It's snowing a bit up here in the ADKs this morning, but the ponds and lakes are all open...my son and I are taking the dog on a hike this morning, but may go on a paddle tomorrow when it's supposed to be a little nicer/warmer...

I would love to get together with some of the HF people for a hang trip this summer...

I am no longer in the market for a new tandem. I am now the proud owner of a Bell Morningstar. Thus, I can take on another paddler for this adventure (unless we all decide to use our solo boats, then I will probably bring my bucktail.
