    Hello from Southeast Texas

I'm new to this hammock thing. I recently discovered the longest trail in Texas is about 50 miles from here, so when/if it finally cools off, I plan on doing some backpacking. I was discussing it with some people and they informed me a lot of the camping spots were kinda swampy, so hammock camping looks like just the thing. I also got permission from my other half to hike half the Appalachian Trail, or at least 2 months of it.

Anyway, it's nice to be here. I won't cause trouble. See you around.

Howdy and welcome to the trees!

Once it cools off and you're ready to hit the trail, check out the Lone Star Hiking Trail for something in at least the same humidity zone as Liberty.

Absolutely it cools off. I remember one year, in fact, that I used an UQ a couple of days in both December and January.

Depends on where your at, Remember Texas is large, hush Alaska hangers. I'm in the panhandle, we regularly see below freezing temps in winter with ice and snow storms. Of course it doesn't stay around long. But this time of year it resembles the rest of the state..... HOT
