long distance hiking puts wear and tear on all gear. inspect it regularly and make repairs early in small damage so to not get worse. carry polyester tread and a needle. my hiking pants took the worst of it.Originally Posted by Cralls

Minimize the amount of time it's exposed to direct sunlight.
Try not to pitch under branches that will fall on it.
Don't stab it or allow it to be stabbed with pointy things.
That's about all I can think of.
shake out the dust each morning before packing; might want to sink wash, rinse and hang dry every other month, just to keep the body oil accumulation to a minimum...ditto for your other sleeping gear; dirty gear loses loft...(just a thought) KM
