Great to see more pics.
Since our gang got there late and had a short stay, we had to go back - loved it in March and even more in May.
Thanks for video. I did many of my first backpacking trips in AR and have yet to do any around the Buffalo River. I've got to put that area on my list.
AWESOME!!!! Thanks for posting the vids and the pics! I've got to see this place!
I'm thinking it might be a place for paddling camping/hanging.....are there long stretches of the river WITHOUT rapids? enough for 2-3 days on the river?
MedicineMan,
My Boy Scout Troop puts in at Woolum and gets out at Hwy 65. This is roughly a 16 mile trip with no rapids to speak of. Couple of narrow spots that the water speeds up through but no big deal. We put in Saturday morning, camp about 2/3 of the way that evening and finish up on Sunday getting out between 10:00 and noon. Nice easy float without a lot of work. Timing is everything though. Too late and you wind up portaging a bunch. Too early and the water can be real high and real fast. We prefer the middle to end of May.
To speak to the river, we take this trip at this time since we often have boys that have never seen a canoe let alone floated a river. It is very tame and very relaxing. Couple of us float along and fish as we go. Sometimes we even catch stuff. If you wanted to go further down there are more places to put out further down river and it stays pretty calm.
Enjoy yourself and I hope they do this again later this year or the first of next so I can go along!! I missed it this year.
Help a Boy Scout Troop in your area - become a mentor.
God created Firemen so cops would have heros.
