I think I have to agree with the previous posts that my biggest mistakes were not fully enjoying the journey and getting too focused on the destination or mileage. I've gone full circle on this one and even though my son gives me a lot of grief for the pictures, videos and post-production, it has caused me to slow my roll and realize that even though I'm not covering a lot of milage, "at least I'm enjoying the ride!"

My main one is pushing myself too hard. I'll try to make miles, and end up beating my lungs up in the process, when instead I could take my time, and still get to my planned location, just a weebit later.

My biggest mistakes up until recently, was hiking as fast as I can to get to my destination so I can enjoy my camp...

Now I take a leisurely stroll take in all the sites and see the beauty of it all and i still get to enjoy my camp even if I have to cut my trips slightly shorter.

But it really is worth it... and yeas I too used to take my camera and only have shots of my camp, now I take shots of various things along the way & my camp..

Sounds like basic things and it is but I don't know why I never done it sooner.

Welllll, in that case I guess I'll admit that I went to the ground yesterday...first time in my life!

I was on the back deck in my small Bliss Hammock-in-a-bag (REALLY like the heavy cotton fabric). I was using the Byers Micro-Rope (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___42501) and started wriggling around to get comfy....down I went.

FORTUNATELY, I had remembered to place the old lifejacket over the knobs on Vario Stand - that could have been really painful.

What happened is that the hammock loop is really thick (and it had a metal insert, which I have now discarded) and the metal tube on the end of the rope wasn't log enough.

I've corrected this problem by inserting the tube through the hammock loop and then back into the micro-rope loop.
