Nano 7 with Whoopie Sling Suspension Pics

I uploaded a few picks of the Nano 7 I won a few weeks back hanging with Opie's Whoopie Slings and his Structural Ridge Line (SRL). Per Opie's suggestion I threaded the dead eye end through the channel, and then through the SRL eye before completing the larks head knot with the rest of the Whoopie Sling line. My suspension is a one inch strap from Arrowhead Equipment, a dutch clip from the Hammock Forum Store, and the lightweight carabiner from the nano 7 that I removed from the channel.

I only had a short time to hang in it but it was comfortable. It is smaller than my HH Expedition and felt tight in the shoulder. The SRL allowed me to lie at a slight angle, enough to let me lie flat with no curve on my back. I am 5'6".

This is an increadibly small and light package. I estimate that it's about a third of the size of my HH packed. And it packs in it's own attached stuff sack. The lines get stuffed in with the hammock and the straps and clips wrapped aroung the outside. I nice compact setup that would fit great in a day pack for an overnight or weekend trip.

I think I'll pick up an inexpensive mosquito net that I can toss over the rig. The SRL will hold it up. If the weather's nice you wouldn't even need a tarp.

I own the Nano 7 too -- it's a great, lightweight hammock. Yes, small -- and I mostly felt it in my shoulders. I like it for an ultralight hammock setup.

That's pretty much how I've configured my Nano except I use marlin spikes instead of the 'biners and no SRL.

I first hung it with short sticks as a marlin spike. But one was either too brittle or the loop slid off the know onto the stick. It broke as a sat in it and sent me bouncing down to the ground.

My daughter thought it was hilarious.

I was at home and had the carabiners form Grand Trunk so I decided to use them and take no more chances!
