Lightest carabiner you can hang on???

I am sure someone has already researched this but a search of the archives didn't turn up anything.

What is the absolute lightest carabiner you would put on your tree huggers?

This is just an item I am considering for total convenience. I can toggle but when you adjust the whoopie slings (which I installed today!) it seems like they might fall out. I have the Locked Brummel looped onto the spreader stay lines on my Bridge hammock so the adjustable eye is on the toggle.

IIRC, Metolious has some 23g biners that are rated to 23kN (something like 5700 lbs I think)
Butch also had some tiny little biners, might have been the ones in the HF store, I forget, that were rated to 805lbs or so. He had his hammock hung with them, and I didn't hear him go Oof in the night, so I guess they held him okay.
There's also some Black Diamond 30g or so biners that are rated too.

That said though, you're plenty secure with the toggle, just give it a glance after you adjust the whoopie.

Look at the "loop shackles-connectors" thread Bleemus. It may be just the thing your looking for?

There are some options out there for non climbing rated carabiners that will do. I am a fan of the Metolius biners that acercanto mentioned. They are small light and full strength. I have been using them for about 6 months and like them as well as any climbing carabiner that I have ever put my hands on. And there is a good local shop that stocks them that I am familiar with Caters right to the hanging community

I have the Metolius biners on both Adia's and my webbing suspension and they are great, small, and very light, got them from Paul at AHE. You can also look for CAMP Nano biners, I do believe that they are pretty much the same as the Metolius ones (same size and weight).

Woops again, I usually catch my spelling errors before I post. Sorry Dutch!

The C.A.M.P. USA Nano 23, like the Metolious mentioned above, is 23 grams. I've not found any real carabiners any lighter. There are some of what I call "key chain carabiners" that might do the job but why risk it? I use a marlin spike hitch to attach my hammock suspension to the tree huggers and it's lighter yet.

My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.
