    2 pc whoopie sling?

I've been off site for quite some time working out some health issues. I'm playing catchup and am really interested in saving weight with a rope suspension. My question is this:

Can a whoopie sling be made in two pieces (one attached to the hammock with the "finger trap" and one as the adjustable line attached to the tree) or does it have to remain in a loop in order to prevent slipping? It would save a lot of rope if it would work as two separate pieces and be very convenient. If not, I'll probably just stick to the marlin spike method. Thanks in advance.

T back.... Just as Storm mentioned. You may be thinking about the UCR type suspension.

Basically what that is, is 2 lengths of line. 1 long and 1 short. The long line is that actual suspension line. The short one is the "constrictor." The long line is buried in the short one and the short one should be backed up since the constrictor isnt being pulled on from both directions like in a whoopie sling.

Unless youre talking about 2 actual pieces of line that you bury everytime you hang....

Heres some reading on the UCR...

    Thanks Storm.
I was looking them over earlier and thought "constriction" was "construction" as in how to make the other types of suspension.
I guess that's what I get for quickly skimming through everything. Thanks for setting me straight!

Thanks for the links Opie. I'll check them out. Looks like I might have a project for tomorrow.

Brian, I use UCRs and I'm probably not too far from you. Let me know if getting together would be useful for you.

    Welcome back, T-Back!

After you get rigged up with an UL suspension, let's talk about swapping out your prototype Molly Mac Pack for an UL model. Look at Frawg's MMP, and imagine one about half the weight of his. You'll save about a pound.
