So I had a chance to finally set up the hammock and hang for a bit today. I'm using Opies whoopieslings and tree straps from AHE. After setting up I had to get out of the hammock three times and tighten up the whoopieslings.
The straps and slings were all new, so is there an inital break in period or was I doing something wrong?

Is the hammock new? You may be experiencing some stretch if it is.
You shouldnt be noticing any stretch in the slings or webbing. Assuming Paul is selling poly or polypro webbing, which Id wager he is.
Nope slings on correctly. Double checked that. It was weird, there would be like a popping noise and and then it would drop a couple inches. Then get out and tighten the slings.
Opie, it is a brand new blackbird and I just put the slings on it, so first hang with the whole system.
You can expect some stretch in the hammock but that will subside after a few hangs.
The pop sounds strange though. Can you take a couple close up pictures of the system and post them up?
Are you tying your marlinspike hitches the right way round? If the tail is slipping, that might give you the described sensation (until your tail pops through, that is). Otherwise, my only thought is that maybe your toggle is unevenly loading the whoopie, and letting it slip.

i'd wager that the popping sound you hear is the 'tearing' of the sewing on either your hammock, tree-strap loops, or anywhere else you have sewn material bearing your weight.

Also, are you milking the buries??? I have heard a pop sound when I forget to milk the buries

I will have to check and make sure I was doing the marlin spike correctly.
Since Everything was bought and is brand new I hope there is no stitching tearing.
I'm going to have to look up the milking you mention opie984, I'm not sure what that is so probably didn't do it.
I'll get a chance to set back up in a few days, I'll see if does the same thing, and I'll take pictures this time.
