Yeah I had something like that happen to me last year on my first solo trip. I had something still don't know what come close to my hammock snorting, sneezing and making all kinds of noises. It startled me enough that I had to wait to get out to water the trees, which I finally did was with open knife in one hand and headlamp on to try to figure out what it was. The thing that got me the most my dang dog wasn't even barking at whatever it was.

The power of the hammock was too great last night, and so fast asleep I was in 2 minutes! No noises were heard, whatever it was it's moved on.

My wife was talking to her aunt in Georgia and she said it is Spring and mating season, and it could be trying to call her a mate.Well....I'M NOT HIM!!!

But I have also heard some other critter that's more like dog barking, but definitely NOT dog barking. MUCH creepier than this. I haven't found anything like it on the internet yet, but I'm still looking. Happy hangin'.
