In the fall of 2008 my sister and I hiked up Alum Cave Trail and down Bull Head Trail. Great to see the Alum Cave Trail in the snow.

What amazed me was how many seniors climb Mt LeConte! We felt like the youngest people on the mountain. When we went by Alum Cave, there was a group of old ladies in tennis shoes and straw hats taking a break... looked like a garden party! The most striking example was a little old man who waltzed past us on the way up, and then came down again before we reached the top! I said, "You must have done this before," and he replied, "12th time this year!"

Nice pics! Mt Leconte's been on my list for a while, may try it this summer when the snow's gone.

Positively fantastic trip report. Very nice to see the airlift resupply. I keep hoping I'll see the lamas some time on Trillium Gap Trail.

The trail has cables embedded in the rock face but most were buried in the snow. Kinda hairy through here, I had to keep to the packed snow as best I could.
WOW ... even in good conditions this part of the trail is scary!

    Great Pics ....
