    Driducks weather shield

Since I'm going down for my bottom insulation and that I've shortened up my summer tarp from the Superfly to the OES Deluxe I'm thinking I will need a weather shield for my yeti (Considering it rained a lot last year).

Has anyone used the JRB Driducks weather shield for the WB Blackbird to shield their yeti? What were your results.

Did the suspension come with it or was that seperate? I have a ton of shock chord so I can make my own suspension if need be.

I also have been wandering about this. Cant wait till everyone chimes in.
The driducks are very fragile there may be a better option out there.

I've got the DD poncho and a BB, but no yeti and I haven't tried it with an uq. However, I think it would work just fine. The DD poncho from JRB does come with suspension (well, I got mine used from another forum member and it had a JRB suspension with it, so I assume it came that way).

I'll also say even though the OES Deluxe is smaller than the superfly, unless you have blowing fog or sideways rain you likely won't have any problem. I've got an Ultra and several down quilts and have never even come close to getting wet except with fog.

Again, I haven't tried that setup, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work very well.

I don't have direct experience with this so I'll just give my 2 cents. If you plan to also use it as your raingear it might be worth it. That would be the biggest draw - multiuse.

If not, you could just make one out of some 1.1 ripstop that has a good DWR treatment to keep the splash off. Probably be lighter.

I'm not one for many DIY projects mainly because I'm not much with sewing but I'm willing to give it a try. Where can I get ripstop nylon and what other materials do I need?

Obviously I've never cut Rip-stop nylon before can I use regular sheers? Will it fray when I cut?

Also I'm thinking of making it with the same suspension system as the yeti as I have a ton of shock chord. I also want to put some sort of a trim around the edges what fabric can I use?

i used a DD poncho and DD pants on a hike a few weeks ago, walking all day in 35 degree driving rain, and then used the JRB modified DD poncho as an undercover with a jrb torso length uq. the dual use thing is really great, and i am a real fan of the DD fabric for its breathability. i use an HH overcover which is silnylon and have all sorts of condensation issues around the foot end of my hammock, but no issues with the DD undercover. Hey, the poncho is so cheap you can replace it every couple of years and still be ahead of the game. if you can avoid carrying a rain jacket you are definitely ahead of the game in terms of weight, too.
