    Northern MN - 3/26 - 3/28

Taking this Friday off of work. Planning on going somewhere up north. Was thinking Split Rock S.P. to one of the remote backpack sites. Snow free there since it's close to the lake. Farther inland on the SHT still has snow which I am going to avoid. I've had enough snow for awhile. Weather looks decent Friday but not so great for Saturday at Split Rock. So with that said I was also thinking Jay Cooke S.P. Weather looks good both days there with high of 50F and low around 30F. Another option is to do Friday at Split Rock and head back down south Saturday to Jay Cooke. That way not such a far drive back to the twin cities on Sunday. If anyone wants to join me feel free. Just let me know by Thursday evening. The state parks don't do reservations until April 1st so I'm just wingin' it and finding whatever campsites are available.

Hmm...I'm interested interested, Pizza, but I need to check a calendar at home (I'm at work now) before declaring my availability. I'll let you know something by tomorrow.

Pizza, where did you get your weather forecast? (I like it compared to what I found). I live about 45 minutes south of Jay Cooke and according to NOAA there is a chance of snow/rain Friday/Saturday/Sunday with highs around 35 degrees. Of course, in MN in March the weather can be variable. We are/were considering canoeing and hanging overnight Saturday around our home area but the weather doesn't look so great for that.

Got the forecast here. http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/USMN0126I saw the rain and snow for Split Rock Saturday but only 30% chance of rain at Jay Cook. Maybe it's a mistake. Oh well...either way I'm in. I need to get out.

Was originally going to take Friday off and go down to Yellow River State Forest, since I never been there before and I figured it would be a little warmer there. But hanging is more fun with company, so I'll go north instead.

If I can get Friday off, I'll see you where ever you decide. Let you know tomorrow.
