    Talking Hello hangning buddies!

    Hello all,
I have been inspired from Shug's videos to try hammock camping. I recently had some knee surgery this past year and wanted to get back into backpacking. After evaluating my gear, I thought about lightening my gear but didnt want to sleep on the ground. So I found you guys and I just completed my setup.

Last night I slept in my backyard between my guava and orange tree. Temp was around 49*F.

    Eno Profly Tarp
My suspension system consist of 3/4 inch webbing using 2 descending rings as a buckle
    Kelty Light Year 40*xp
-I just got this bag in the long. It weighs 2lbs 1oz, I am only 5' 5" and setup the sleepingbag around the hammock. the Light Year series has a zipper foot vent that allows this.

Overall I was comfortable but need to make more insulation happening between the hammock and bottom portion on the sleeping bag wrap. I tried using a space blanket but still got cold butt. I will try using my Big Agnes pad for insulation tonight.

Let me know what you guys think of the setup and any suggestions would be great.

    Hello Alphaqlater,

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you have a good setup. I'm with Nathan H and think a closed cell matt would really help out. Another thing you may want to consider is a weather shield. The Jacks - R - Better weather shield or Dri-Ducks poncho would add another 5-10 degrees of warmth as well.

I would start with the closed cell matt 1st though.

Thanks for the advice and good to see some consistency on the forum. I'll be trying it again tonight with my z-lite pad.
