    Swing String

When I get in my hammock and get settled in, I love the few minutes when the hammock is still rocking back and forth. But once it settles down there's no way to start it rocking again, aside from reaching to the ground and giving it a push, but then I have to settle in again. I've started attaching a little string to a bush or whatever and tying that to the pouch on my ENO so that I can rock whenever I want by just pulling on the string. Anybody else do that?

Yes, on occasion I'll stake a string to the ground beside me and pull on it to gently swing myself. I tie a little loop in the string to go over my finger so that even if I doze off I won't drop the string. Very nice on muggy summer days as it gets the air moving a bit around you.

Hey, you guys should switch to boats instead of hammocks

But i understand what you mean, i don't mind some gentle swinging.
But i don't tie strings to make me swing, at the moment.
I might, now when you brought it up.

I just lift my head up and rock it back and forth a few times and that gets me swinging enough for me.

    Acer of the simple approach...
It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

My wife became interested a little more once she saw a video of me gently swinging the first time I setup the hammock.

I kinda like when the hammock is low enough to hang one leg out & that foot rests on the ground. That way I can keep myself swinging until I fall asleep.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I just put one of my hiking sticks within easy reach & push off of it.
At work there is a desk within reach (I don't have a desk job, just a desk) that I often push off of.
At home (inside) I'm only about 12" off of my bed, so getting a swing going from that is easy.

The string is a good idea especially if you don't have: hiking sticks, desk or bed to push on. But what I want is an automated thing to swing me gently all night.

I thought about having a few of my slaves rock me gently, then I realized a critical flaw in that plan: I don't have any slaves.

This won't work for the gram weenies, but you guys should think about scavenging one of those automatic rockers off a baby swing that would automatically swing you for like 20 mins. Not real sure how you would attach it to the hammock though. Maybe through your current string method?

That might be a task for some of the engineers on the forum.
