Gonna stick to Speer webbing due to Strapworks extra weight. Harbor freight wont work cause I'm no fan of yellow webbing.

slowhike - another reason you might prefer the Harbor Freight webbing over the starpworks webbing (ignoring the color) - flexibility. I have both the strapworks webbing rated at 3500 lbs and the Harbor Freight webbing rated at 1500 lbs and the strapworks stuff is very stiff and hard to work with (at least for me). The Harbor Freight stuff is extremely flexible. I can roll 15' of the Harbor Freight webbing into half the size or even less than 15' of the strapworks webbing.
That flexibility makes the Harbor Freight webbing very easy to work with. If you're used to seatbelts - the Harbor Freight webbing is more flexible.
The strapworks webbing is like working with a heavy, thick leather belt.
Once I found the Harbor Freight webbing, I stopped using the strapworks stuff fast. Now if strapworks would sell that type of polyester webbing and match the price, I would probably resupply from them and get black.
That appears to be just slightly more than twice as heavy as either Speer or Harbor Freight. Hence the 3500 lbs vs 1500(HF) and 800(Speer).
Has anyone here ever heard of Speer webbing breaking on anyone?
I think Neo had some HH rope break on him, though my explorer rope is rated at 1600 lbs.
anyone tried the 1" polyester from OWF?
I just emailed them to see if they know the weight and breaking strength.
If they respond I post a follow up

These would look better than yellow. Pricey though:http://www.amazon.com/Keeper-03518-R.../dp/B000BQY9BY

Hey now! I could go for some camo webbing! I don't really like camo but, it just seems better than my other choices of color.

I have not Speer webbing break but it does show some signs of wear and tear after only a few uses. You start to see fraying. I had one strap that developed a small tear in the loop I had sewn in it. I had to cut off the loop and re-sew an new one.
I did just notice something interesting about Speer's webbing. It is rated at 700 breaking strength but on the site they add this statement:
It has a breaking strength of 700 lbs but only supports 250 lbs in hammock ?????1" Wide, 700 lb breaking strength (supports up to 250 lbs in hammock), black, low-memory stretch;

Here is their response
"IN RESPONSE TO YOUR EMAIL INQUIRY ABOUT THE WPE1 MAX4 AND WOODLAND WEBBING. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THE TENSILE STRENGTH OF THESE WEBBINGS. YOU COULD BUY A SMALL QUANTITY OF THEM AND TEST THEM. AS FAR AS THE WEIGHT OF THE WPE1 MAX4 IT IS .116/LB A YARD AND THE WEIGHT OF THE WPE1 WOODLAND IS .040/LB A YARD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR COMPANY AND HAVE A NICE DAY."
so the woodland is .21oz / ft or to keep with the earlier numbers 3.2oz per 15ft.
I might have to order some.....
