    Bought straps today.

I bought some straps today fromt he hardware store. They are camo and don't say if they are nylon or not. They say 500lb load limit and 1500lb breaking strength. They are something for me to try anyway. Lowes only had Task Force brand and breaking strength of 1300. So I figured I would try these out.

Am I putting my tush in harms way?

You'll soon learn by how much stretch you get or dont get.

I have found that if I hang the head end of the hammock close to the tree, letting the excess be taken by the foot end, I have much less stretch.

My webbing is polyester from the local outfitter, strength unknown. I'm a 240 lb chunk, so knowing the way not to sag too much in the night matters a bit!

NIghtwalker...that is a superb idea. Should have thought of that myself before now!
