Red face Story of the BIG MOUTH FROG

Too, too funny to pass up.

Thread over on Sgt Rock's Board. It started off as a discussion on the Sleepcatcher hammock.

    Enjoy!

Anyone remember the story of "The Big Mouth Frog?

Did anybody go read about that thing? It looks more like a trampoline than a hammock. AND it looks really heavy! I didn't find anything on either of the guy's websites that mention weight. However, I did find one really good marketing sell-point: "When your girlfriend kicks you out" LOL!

It's not all bad. That girl on the homepage is kinda hot, in a punk rock way.

    Anybody check out the videos?

I was waiting on one of those "America's Funniest Video" moments when he was trying to stand on it.

Wonder if that's "Chiropractic Endorsed" ?

In all honestly it looks a lot like what Grizz (I think. I'm not going through the whole Bridge Hammock thread to find out ) was trying to accomplish with a bridge hammock with no spreader bars.

Yeah, I think you're right. All I could think about while looking at that was the Bridge Hammock. I bet the Sleepcatcher feels like sleeping on one of those old canvas cots; the Bridge Hammock looks comfortable. Who's gonna order one for $105 and let us know?

Regardless of his product's quality, I am not too keen on the link at the bottom of his home page. I think that's lacking class altogether.

It's the one that begins "If you want to sleep in a binbag..."

yeah, that's me. Spreader-free bridge hammock is still in the experimental stage. Higher priority issues (like the bugnet on the second version) are occupying my attention, but there'll be a "spreader-free bridge hammock revisited" report sometime before the snow flies.

The sleepcatcher has a crank that helps create a lot of tension on the supporting structure, which will help reduce sag, but I don't see that it can eliminate it the way the Bridge does. You'll be cupped from side to side the way you are in any hammock (including the bridge), and will have the banana shape we all know. The combination of loose fabric and line(s) of suspension are different, so I'm not sure if there is benefit on the Sleepwalker to sleeping on the diagonal. Also, your spread is limited to the width of the tree. Fine for the northwest, but not fine for the new growth forests I mostly see.

    Another video on youtube here.

I seem to recall an article about this hammock in the Manchester Evening News about a year ago, wrapped around a plan for Daniel Chipcase to travel around Europe on the blag. I didn't expect to here anything more about it. I still think his marketing makes him seem like a proper manc chancer though.
