    Noobie DIY Hammocker

    Hi all

I just thought i would introduce myself.

Just finished my first DIY hammock. Will post pics later on but i have to work on the shoulder squeeze. Also i am going to add a bug net and make my own tarp. Yeah just slightly ambitious.

    Looks like you're having fun.

Probably get less shoulder squeeze with a longer hammock. How long is this one?

I agree ..... I made one a bit shorter once ... tying to save weight ..... and got the dreaded squeeze.

Welcome to the forums. Always room for another DIY-er. I agree with the comments above, the longer (and wider) the hammock, the more comfortable the lay. You probably want 10-11 feet in length. For a good diagonal lay you may want to consider 60+ inches in width. Not necessary, but you might as well make it as comfortable as possible.

Hey maybe everybody else already knows this but what kind of straps are those? With the white and the writing on them? Are they like cinch straps?
