My MacCat Deluxe had the pleasure of being 2Q & ZQ's at www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/ guinea pig tarp on installing pole pockets. While they had it I had them install doors on each end too (I thought about entitling this post “pimp my tarp”). I got it back and it is awesome!
The weather here has been bad and I finally got to set it up and snap some pictures.
I also ordered pole sections from http://www.questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm
Here’s what I ordered:
Poles with inserts #4080 x 5 x 2.95 $14.75
Poles without inserts #4081 x 1 x 2.25 $ 2.25
Pole tips #4030 x 2 x 1.55 $ 3.10
3/32 shockcord #2402 x 3 x .32 $ .96
Total $21.06
The assembled pole weighs 3.80 oz
Here are some pics:

This is my first attempt at inserting the pole. It is obviously too long.
This is after trimming the pole. For my tarp, a pole 98.5 inches seems to be the right size.

Pole pocket by ZQ. A thing of beauty.
I am VERY pleased with this set-up! Can't wait to get out and try it.
I'll get some pictures with the doors and use and my Blackbird set-up with it too.
