    Claytor JH

Ok, so I just ordered my Claytor JH with a 5 day ship option.

What else do I need to go ahead and get? Snake Skins, Whoopie slings, rings, biners and things....

I need this thing ready to rock the week of 4/14

Please, no flames...I am reading the existing threads...lol

My primary goals are to stay dry and to keep it simple.

Well, the first thing I would do is test hang it at home to see what improvements it needed to make it easier to setup and pack away, in general make camping more enjoyable and less work. There is a ton on information and methods regarding hammocks right here on this forum but you need to determine what you want first. For me, ease of setup - whoopie slings were the answer.
As soon as your new toy shows up - the fun begins, enjoy.

I spent most of my money on beer and women and hammocks.
    The rest I just wasted.

I used mine as is for two years before I made any modifications to it. Since, I have swapped out the stock straps and use a biners and cinch buckle system. It is easier but heavier. Sometimes I wonder why I did it, the stock system worked just fine.

Looking forward to experimenting with it. Will it be necessary to do any extra waterproofing to this fly or hammock when it arrives?

I haven't done a thing to it and it works great. Really think you'll like it!

I assume your JH is coming with the stock Diamond tarp? You you should be good to go right now, other than I assume it will still be cold enough that you will at least need a pad to keep warm. If there is any chance of rain, you will need to add a couple of over hand knots the the suspension webbing (in addition to the normal set up described at the Claytor web site), one or two on each side of the channel. This will keep the water from running down the webbing into the hammock.

Of course, you will need a couple of stakes for the tarp. You can change or add other stuff later, add a pad and you should be ready to go in April!

Hey! I think that is the first time I have heard some one say that other than me! I also put a cinch buckle on the head end, but I still have the original on the foot. Really works about as good as any thing I have(better than some), and is lighter and less bulky than most.

Yes I did go with the Diamond tarp combo. Hopefully the sunshine will prevail and we can call it more cool than cold in April. As long as I stay dry I will be golden. I have been reading up on how to get pine sap off the tarp. That will most likely be something I will have to deal with living where I live.

If someone has some good pics of this method to defeat the rain on this hammock I would appreciate the link.
