Partial bug-net for the Grizz Bridge

This spring I've made a few DIY bridge hammocks from a common design, dubbed elsewhere as the "Grizz Bridge". One of the Grizz Bridge owners needs a bug-net though, and since he's a gram weenie I made up a partial bug-net such as made its debut in the "Ask Professor Hammock" video. The idea is to create an enclosed space around the torso, and count on the legs being protected by a quilt. The finished product weighs 3.5 oz.

The cut pattern with dimensions is shown below.

    Key design features are
    • Attachment at corner of the hammock through slots with opposing omnitape sides to fasten.

    • Small sack at the head, for utility and to encourage backside to "seal" against the hammock body
    • Bug-net widens to 50", where attached is an elastic band that goes under the hammock body to pull the sides in close
    • Tab for lifting net above head with an additional bit of elastic cord to a ridgeline, if needed (added after the pictures "in the yard" to follow were taken)
    • Two elastic bands with mitten hooks to attach to the mid-point of the hammock.

Some pictures of it in the yard follow.

Nice, bugnet are hard to seal on a bridge. I like the Grizz hammock tags you put on the foot end. What are you using for teh recieving end of teh poles of the head side. Do you have a better picture of that, I have been trying to work that detail out.

    Dutch, see this photo

Spliced eye loop up through the corner with the tail back through itself. Leave room for a pole tip. Can be made to work with a spreader bar tip also.

Thanks for posting pictures, Grizz. I've been talking to Oh-No and Perkolady about a partial bug nut for gathered end hammocks with the same logic that legs are protected by quilt.

I ventured into your vast gallery trying to find what you were doing there. It took me forever. No wonder your pics are always on the random gallery. Little did I know you had another vast gallery on picasa. So simple and I like the tubing to protect the webbing. I feel like I'm playing checkers and your playing chess.
