after last month's shoulder "incident" i decided to with renewed determination to make that trip. this time i brought along the fiance, this was not only her first hang but also her first real pack trip. 5 days with temps. dipping to the teens one night. it was absolutely spectacular. being a region i'm pretty comfortable in, we did a little off the map exploring and found an old mining camp amidst an unseasonably wet bog. despite my rationalizing to the contrary that swamp remained staunchly liquid when it should have been solid. we did manage to skate (literally at several points) by without camping in snow, descending to valley bottoms at night. this was also the beta test for my DIY polyester hammock with dynaglide whoopies. which did brilliantly. i pawned the HH off on the fiance. i used a space blanket on the cold night (see photos) which kept me toasty in conjunction with 3/4 length thermarest and ccf with only minor condensation problems

oh! that's an adventure medical kits 1 person heet sheet held snug to my hammock by whipping one end around my head end suspension then a line from each foot end corner into a klemheist on my ridgeline*,** worked beautifully. for a foot box i used my vest with my gortex shell over it, kept my toasty with a little help from my hot water bottle.

Glad to hear things worked better this time. Great vista shots, loved the open areas in the trees on the hillsides. Nice to see you using what's around you, sticks, to hold up your tarp. Looks like your snow level is higher than in the Kootenays. Thanks for sharing

*i used 200lb test polyester dacron cord which is smaller than the dynaglide but still slipped in a prussic, a klemheist worked very well though it does tend to bind. used same cord for tarp prussics and para cord for the tarp ridgeline
