    sea sickness?

    Hi,

how is it possible to avoid sea sickness in a HH asym?
Perhaps you can help with your experiences.

My question is: Which combination is better to get a calm position?
    (1A, 1B, 2A or 2B?)

1: ridge line - high tension

2: ridge line - low tension

A: side cords - high tension

B: side cords - low tension

    Or somebody has other advices?

    Welcome, Miraculix!

    Ginger works well.

As far as ridgeline and tie out tension, I recommend just tighter than slack, but only for general comfort, not as a way of reducing sea sickness.

First of all, I like the multiple answer format. Personally, I like to have my tie outs pretty tight. I've noticed that it's easier for me to get situated with it spread out. As far as sea sickness goes, I don't have that problem but I still don't swing too much. I like that. When I swing, I always wake up, because I'm used to waking up from earthquakes now. Kinda freaks me out for a second. lol

I'd have to say 1-A. Final answer.

Switch-out the shockcord tie-outs with something that doesn't stretch much. Should all but eliminate any rocking.

i remember when i got my first hammock and i was so excited to set it up and have a nap.i saved it till Sunday and had a big after church lunch and then straight to the hammock-well i thought i was going to puke and immediately hated it.well it sat there for awhile before i looked at it again and i am glad i did.the next time and everytime after it was fantastic. the moral of the story for me is to not go to bed stuffed to the gills.

Bummer about the motion sickness. I'm always trying to find ways to extend the rocking motion.

By the way. I vote for 1A.

STLs are usually used on tarps, but it serves the same purpose as the shockcord on the HH side tie-outs so you could use either. So stronger elastic, as Cannibal says, will stop the swaying.

If you use non-elastic line, you risk pulling your stakes out of the ground or even ripping the hammock when it's pulled tight. So you need a little bit of give.

I never thought about it until now... with a Hennessey Hammock, you could tear the Supershelter OCF pad as well, since it is tied directly to the side tie-outs.
