I was thinking of building myself a cuben fiber hammock and was wondering if anyone here has one or slept in one.
Cheers,
Lawson

Hi larson! bill fornsnell has built one and posted pics of it here. I don't have his username, but im sure someone else can chime in with it. Good luck.
hahaha gram weenie...No I just have an extra few yards that I would like to experiment with. I like the idea of how compact it would be and could probably fit into my wallet... especially since after I wouldn't have any money left.
Lawson,
Well, if you're sure you're not a gram weenie, let us know what you find out. I think the concept of personal comfort may be lost on those with the urge to purge. I actually have a yard or three of cuben myself, and have wondered along the same lines. Maybe if I use a wool and kapok UQ nobody will take me for a g-w.
I like your website - easy to navigate.
Thanks.. Its a little over a year old now and I am in the process of adding a few thousand products to my inventory so check it out again sometime in the future.
I almost think a cuben hammock would make the perfect SUL hammock due to its weight to strength ratio. I am not a sweater so for me it would be fine but I can't say for sure since I have never slept in one. I am shooting for the 4oz range which is literally the weight of all the money its going to cost to build. Once I get it built I will put up some photos.
I would go all out on cuben, but its in no way a financial option now or in the immediate future.
What would be "affordable"? What size and weight would you like to see?
Gnome had a gathered end cuben hammock which he sold for $25. (I think Te-Wa bought it.) Gnome said he now has a bridge, presumably cuben fiber.
Gardenville has done a lot with cuben. He talks about winterizing his cuben hammock here:

This thread was started recently about a small company building Cuben Hammocks. Might want to check them out.
