So let me get this straight

From what I am reading you pretty much always need either an UQ or a pad to sleep on through out the Spring/Summer/Fall. (In Virginia)

I just ordered a Hennessy Hammock for my brother-in-law and am considering a WB BB for myself.

I'm guessing I going to have to pursue the idea of making my own UQ for both our hammocks.

Most people use some sort of insulation below 65F whether it be a pad or UQ. The UQ will be more comfortable but more costly also. There are many on here that have different styles of hammocks and Winter systems that work well in the negative temp range. I personally use the WB Yeti-3 UQ and part of a ¼” pad in the feet area and it’s good to about 30f for me, If colder then add a ¼” GG pad in torso area and all is good to about 20f. Below this and I’m taking the JRB MW4 UQ. Look around a lot and read past Threads and you will learn a lot. Welcome to HF.

Search the archives is a good answer...This is a reoccurrant subject.

The traditional wisdom is that most will experiance bottom chill after 20-30 minutes in the hammock when temps are below 65-75 *...65* if you are using a three season bag and you are in it - 75 if you are laying on the hammock and using a quilt or bag as a quilt.

Typically those who suggest lower thresh holds are warm sleepers, using sit pads under the butt only, using heavier than average synthetic bags, or are just more tolerant...Or some combination of above

To understand the real body comfort issue, factor in the "nature calls"...More than one in a seven-eight hour night when you are only one or none at home means your sleep quality is less than normal and you body is uncomfortably cool.

But Hey... YMMV as we say.
