it works really well. I just made some recently and used them on some pines and they held with no problem.

I got some from a junkyard, but I thought they were pretty heavy, so I split them up the middle, then seared the cut edge to keep it from fraying. This works, but it's difficult. They fray like mad until you melt the edge, and if you melt it too much it loses flexibility. However, it can be done, and they're very cheap. I think I paid a dollar for enough webbing to make tree straps for four hammocks.

I sew loops in the ends. They can be used with carabiners or Dutch clips, or just pass one end through the loop on the other end. This webbing may not be as good for marlinspike hitches as some more flexible types.

I just left them 2" wide and sewed loops on each end. To attach them I just fed one end through the loop and cinched it up against the tree. To attach my hammock suspension, I used some of the recently named nacrabiners to attach my whoopie slings. Worked great. I don't have any up close pictures right now, but will try to get some up soon if no one else does.

in the meantime, here is a picture from the recent trip out where I used this set-up

i have allways used seat belts on my set up with no sign of problems or wear, just sew the ends up to make a loop on each end, just make sure you sew it good and strong the x in a box pattern i did and it holds me at 18 stone.
