Summer Set and Winter sets are an eventual must.

I have a 3 Season Yeti for Spring Summer and Fall, and then a Crowsnest for winter.

I then have a 3 season Burrow, and will buy a Winter TQ before next years Mount Rogers Winter Hangout.
Not the guy to ask for Directions.

options man options .. sure a single is lighter .. im sure there will be times where i wont need a pad ,cause of higher temps in summer . but im also sure ther will be a time to use a pad as a uq might be over kill . and maybe also a time where i would just use the uq or even a uq and pad .. sure i would still beable to use a pad with out getting a dbl layer. but hey why not? i just bought a cadillac i want all the options hahahha..i dont think im so oposed to useing a pad .i really dont like them much but still use them .

jonsey - I did the same thing. Since I really don't do much winter camping, I figured I can DIY something to increase insulation for the winter. Otherwise, I'll have a nice UQ for the seasons I primarily camp.

Jonesy - whether you use a pad or UQ is independent of the temp. A pad can take you from summer temps to deep winter, and so can an underquilt. You can increase the insulation for winter by doubling up pads, or doubling up underquilts, or adding a pad to an underquilt, etc.

So underquilts aren't any warmer than pads just b/c they're underquilts. A winter underquilt is warmer than a summer pad, but a winter pad is warmer than a summer underquilt.

Did that make any sense? I think I confused myself...
