    Gathered End "W"

Can someone show me a reference to tie the ends of a Hammock as a Gathered End W technique? I am having trouble trying to figure this out. What material should I use as cordage also? Thanks.

    Did you read that already?

Are you wondering how to actually tie the whipping on, or how to do the 'W'?

OK, easy enough I guess. So now that I am at the last picture from Jeffs page under the "Standard Whipping" section, now what? How do I attach to my webbing from here? From where? What should I do with my two loose ends? Should I apologize?

Forget it, I drool when I breath. Had I just kept reading instead of being so excited to move on, I could have seen the tab "suspension".

that site has loads of good information. I spent a lot of time on Jeff's page before I even discovered these forums But don't hesitate to ask questions, even if they seem stupid (i've asked my fair share of those) -- I'm sure nobody will mind answering whatever questions you might find.

If you're playing around with "W's" and such, you might want to zip tie your ends before whipping them. That way you can gather your hammock, zip tie and try. Once you find what's most comfortable for you, go ahead and whip it. I'm playing with a standard gather on the head end and a W on the foot end now. It gives me room to slide around up top while having a couple of pockets to rest my feet in on the bottom.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

That's how the hammock in my room is set up! But, of course, not that much thought went into it. I did it because the whipping on the foot end was done poorly and need to be re-tied

I pulled the middle the first time and it gave me shoulder squeeze. The next time I pulled the "ears" four inches higher and it worked great.
