I just fold the grosgrain in half and sew.

I use a binding attachment. All I have to do is feed the fabric edge into the attachment. It feeds the grosgrain and folds it over the fabric, right before the whole mess goes under the foot. I'm going to get another one that allows you to make right angle turns.

what exactly are those clips and where do you get them?

I have seen them before when girls wear them like "Bobby pins," which they replace. I got them at a fabric store. Unfortunately, I tore off the label, so I don't know what they are called. I would think you can get them in any drug store or ChinaMart as a hair care item.

You can get those just about anywhere... WalMart, etc. They're girl's hair barrette thingies... I have about a zillion of them in my daughter's dresser drawer.

They work fine. They are made for hair!

NO! These are purpose built for basting quilts... The Made for Hair ones have pretty plastic bits heat-welded through the hole at the thick end...

I saw those at Joanne's the other day and wondered if they'd work... Thanks for the tip!

I guess you're planning to leave the staples in place? I would think that getting them out again would be quite a chore.

I used a staple puller like this. Most of the staples stay lodged in the device so it is was a easy clean up to.

I put the staple parallel to the edge so I did not have to remove them until after I completely finished the tarp.

well then I learned something new already today, my criteria for a good day, and this before I've finished with my 2nd cup of caffine delivery vehicle.

can I go home now?

Good point. It's a bit risky... I might have to rethink that. But then... I don't mind doing it on my $26 thread injector...

I have used staples on a couple of my diy projects and I believe they have their place in our gear making processors .They are easy to insert ,create a good accurate join .Do not damage the fabric as much as you may think.Taking them out,well iT gets easier but like anthing they can be taken out fast and easy once you get tha knack.

Oh yeh! I've been getting strange looks for over 5 years now when I use a stapler for my minding and tinkering .

I'm still using a standard Swingling desk model for mine though. All of our Scout uniforms get a good introduction to Mr. Swingline after award presentations. It all started for me when I had to figure out something when my son was a Cubscout and started earning all those little silver and gold arrow point patches. They had to be placed oh so just right . I must say that I was in a not so good frame of mind when I "stumbed upon" the stapler method more as a show of non-diplomatic superiority to the patches .

I can proudly say that I use far less than the 50 I placed into that first nickle sized patch in my projects now though, so I guess I can chalk it up to progress !
