I like to use a tyvek envelope from the USPS...the biggest sized priority one, and cut it along the seams to make a rectangle.

I have been selling some Tyvec for a while by the foot for just this use. I have 3 foot wide in stock. I think something like Tyvec is a better choice than a piece of sil would be just on the durability side of things.
Out of Curiosity would any body be interested in a set piece of Tyvec with grommet stake holes added to the corners? Would add fairly minimal weight but would give a person a way to stake the Tyvec out and keep it in place.

As others have said......Shoe mat, keep socks etc. clean. I use a cleaned section of dog food bag, like tyvek only free!

Even duct-tape can't fix stupid.
Silver windscreen shields are good for groundsheets, IME.
They seem to hold up ok to being stood on, and are nice and warm on your feet.
Stake grommets would be a cool idea, I would be interested.
I remember when ground clothes were made of ummm, cloth, canvas that is.
