Sipsey Wilderness, AL - Thompson TH

I'm hoping that someone from alabama, or who has hiked in sipsey can help me out. I'm trying to get some good, accurate directions on how to get to the Thompson Trail head from Birmingham Alabama. Number 6 on this map:

    http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/alabama/fore...rSz_6_2009.pdf

I've searched on google for directions but everything seems to keep coming from the north or the west.

I just need to know the best way to get there from birmingham.

    Thanks!

    - I-65 N to Cullman, AL
    - Take 278 West to Double Springs, AL
    - At Double Springs, take Hwy 33 North into Bankhead NF
    - In Bankhead, turn left on County Road 60 (There is a sign here pointing toward the Sipsey Rec Area)
    - Follow the road until it ends at a stop sign (about 10 miles), and turn right.
    - Follow the road, it will turn from pavement to gravel along the way, until it ends at another stop sign where you turn right. You will pass a small church on the left just before this intersection.
    - About 1/4 mile later, the turn onto the Thompson Trailhead road will be on your right (marked with sign). The road ends at the trailhead, about 4 miles later.

Park before you cross the bridge at the Trailhead. There is ample parking, and the trailhead is obvious.

    Absolutely Correct.

Here's a better Sipsey PDF map that shows the roads I listed. The Hwy 33/CR60 intersection is on the far right side.
