Adjustable ridgeline question for the Experts?

I have been tinkering with an idea for the last couple of nights in anticipation of receiving a new hammock suspension from AHE. Side note, thanks Paul I got it all and I absolutely love the ease of the AHE cinch buckle. My question to the experts of the forum is this:

If someone was to clove hitch a descender ring into their whoopie slings or AHE cinch buckle/chain link suspension would there be any load rating change of the amsteel line? This I think will allow for the rings to move as well as allow the sag to be adjusted and keep the bugnets in their proper locations.

I want to put a ridge line on my Clark NX-200 and ENO DN and they now have AHE cinch buckle/chain link suspension on them. This will allow me to suspend both of the bugnets, CJH & ENO, from the adjustable ridgeline with out having to string another line. I know a Ridgeline has been done on both of these hammocks. I am just concerned what will happen to the amsteel if it is used in a constrictor bight like I am proposing.

All answers are appreciated as well as criticisms.

I dont know if a clove hitch will derate the line or not.

However, even if it did derate the line, it is my opinion that it wouldnt derate the line to a point that would cause concern.

Thanks for the comments Opie. I didn't see how it could de-rate the cord because there is no knot involved I was just concerned about the forces on the cord around the ring. Its just an idea right now, still gotta get the line and rings before I can put it to practical testing.

No a clove hitch will not derate the line, the only way this would happen is if it was folded back on itself then the point where it was folded would be derated, a clove hitch is used all the time in rescue/ fire department applications and is used for that reason, no derating of line and holding power of the hitch (with a safety knot of course). Hope this helps!

Thanks CB. Its been a while since my rigging and rescue certifications were taken and I could not remember what it did to the line. I thank you for the answer that I was looking for.

Auhhh people, a clove itch does derate the line according to this site by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The short answer: the clove hitch derates the line by 40% so you have 60% of the lines rated strength remaining.
Those who sacrifice freedom for safety, have neither.

    Ditto TeeDee
any tight bend in the line degrades it
because the fibers at the outside of the
bend are stretched more, carry more of
the load than the fibers on the inside.

That said, use a line strong enough so
that the degraded rating is safe for
    the load

I thought that it might because of the bends, but wasnt sure.

I also made my post above with the assumption that Amsteel would be used.
